Personal instruction and feedback - card magic sessions
For years I've gotten messages and emails from people who wish to receive personal 1-on-1 instruction from me. I have always said no.
I haven't been too keen on doing this - as I feel that I still have so much to learn. Even though I have been doing card magic for 18 years, I sometimes feel like I am only just beginning my journey into magic, and I feel compelled to just recommend books and resources instead, as I feel the student would be better off with that. I mean, who am I to teach? I'm still learning.
At the same time, it has been pointed out to me that this very attitude is the reason why I make a good teacher. Combined with my ability to recommend good books and good material for the individual student, as well as my talent in providing accurate, concise and honest feedback with notes on what to specifically work on is something that I very well could, and maybe should charge for.
So, I've come up with the following solution:
I am now offering 1-on-1 instruction sessions, either in person (if possible) or via FaceTime, Skype etc.
I am very good at seeing the potential for improvement in the material you already perform, and I can help you to drastically improve your card magic in a very short amount of time.
Everyone who has spent time with me, either one-on-one or in a workshop can attest to this.
During our time, we can talk about technique, sleight of hand, improvement, practice, mem deck work, self working miracles, magician foolers, particular card magic plots, principles, forces, palming, psychological techniques, performance theory, and much much more. You decide how you want to spend our session. We can take something you are currently working on and break it down and figure out how to improve it. I will try to suit the needs of the individual student.
I will set up a plan for you and provide book tips and tips for specific resources and material to look up, based on what you already do, and I will make sure to get back to you on any follow-up questions.
Pricing for the sessions will be $100 USD per hour (approx. 60 minutes)
If you commit to 3 sessions, you get the first session at half price - for a total of $250 USD.
You can split multiple sessions up over time - pending on scheduling.
To begin with, I am restricting the number of students to FIVE. After all five slots have been taken - everyone else will go on a waiting list.
This is due to the fact that I want each student to get the most out of their time with me, so that I can pay a lot of attention to each person's particular interests and goals, and help you achieve them in a timely manner.
I also want to keep what I am offering within a very small group of magicians who respect the art. Having said that, you can be new to magic and still respect the art. It will be easier for me to teach someone who is somewhat experienced - but I believe I can offer something to even the novice student of magic.
If you are interested in this unique opportunity - please fill out the form below and you will be contacted shortly for scheduling and practical details.
Right now, all five slots are taken. If you submit your information below, you will go on the waiting list.
PS: While I have been happy to answer questions in DMs and emails, I will of course continue to do this as much as I can. I have (and always will) shy away from method specific questions, as I don't think that they are appropriate outside of a formal teaching setting. I am getting more and more emails and more and more questions every day - and this is an option I want to provide to those that truly want to learn from me. I have from time to time accepted a few invitations to Skype and chat about magic, and I will continue to do this at my leisure, although I do try to set boundaries for what I deem it acceptable to show/teach in such an informal setting, and my time is very limited, so I rarely get a chance to do that. Thank you for understanding.
